OTTAWA
Ottawa is the capital of Canada since 1857. According to official figures, in the city lived 808 thousand residents. Ottawa is the fourth largest city in the country, and the level of life it holds is the 6th in the world. This is a very cozy and compact city, full of water and greenery. It lacks practical skyscrapers, but has a lot of buildings made pseudo-gothic style - Parliament Hill, city council, Chateau Laurier hotel and Lord Elgin.
Like any large city, Ottawa is built on the hill. Originally, this hill had been in the possession of Ottawa tribe, which had lived on the coast of city with the river of the same name. So far, descendants of Indians unsuccessfully "fight" for the "returning" of the hill. The main attraction in Ottawa is located on a hill Parliamentary complex. Ottawa can not be imagined without the main characters - central tower of Parliament with watch and Shatrah library. To admire the city from a bird's eye you can if you raise the 97-meter Peace Tower.
The city has a lot of museums - the Museum of Nature, Science and Technology Museum, the National Gallery of Canada, as well as exhibition halls - Byward Market, La Maison du Citoyen, Le Salon des Arts and the Arts Court. You can get acquainted with the national art in the Ottawa Civic Center, Congress Center and Nepean Sportsplex, where you can buy unique souvenirs.
To waterfalls lovers we advise to visit Hog's Back Falls, which is located at the intersection of Canal and the Rideau River. Here, the flow of water breaks rocks, resembling a wild boar's back. You should come to the city in spring and visit unforgettable festival of tulips, which is held annually in Ottawa Dutch royal family.
